Books and Babies is a program designed for babies and their parents. Essex Public Library welcomes new babies and parents to the library community by presenting them with a kit that includes board books, baby's first library card, and brochures related to child development, reading, nutrition, etc. from national and local organizations. The importance of reading to your baby is critical to your child's development and success.

Mother Goose is a fun-filled literacy program geared to parents/caregivers for children ages 3-8 years old and are based on children's picture books. One example is our Mother Goose Asks Why? program; a science/literary program that explores simple science through fun experiments and great children's picture books. Other library offerings include a math/literacy program, You Can Count on Mother Goose. Sponsored by the Friends of Tiverton Libraries. Funding for Mother Goose is provided by the Office of Library and Information Services, Friends of Tiverton Libraries, Head Start parent groups and local businesses.
